Welcome to Phoenix Feeder! This is a flashcard and learning system, where as you learn you grow your phoenix from an egg to a fully grown bird.
There are dozens of flashcard systems out there, and they suffer from a few problems. For anything that you want to learn, they'll have dozens of sets of flashcards. Some of them are good, some of them are bad, and some of them are really really bad. It's hard to tell what you're getting into without examining every set of flashcards for your subject. Those who don't want to do that end up making the problem all the worse by making yet another set of flashcards.
This system is different. The goal is to reward those who make useful cards and those who use them, and for cards that aren't so useful to just go away. There's a benefit to using someone else's cards rather than your own, there's a benefit to making cards other people use. But if you're going to make a set that only you use, it's going to take some extra effort on your part.
If you go to subscriptions, you can search for courses that you would like to study. The creator of a course can set the price (in Pharthings) for the courses they create. Worry not! There are a number of basic free courses offered by me, the creator of the whole site. The subscription lasts a month, and can be extended another month for the same fee. When you subscribe, 10% of your subscription fee goes to the owner of the deck. (You'll see why that is important later.)
The primary means of earning Pharthings is by practicing your flashcards. You do this in the Feed Bird section.
If you are learning on someone else's cards, then the first time you see each card each day you have an opportunity to earn one Pharthing. This is even true for the free decks. If you get the answer wrong, then you missed your opportunity. If you're practicing on a deck that you created, then this opportunity is only the first time you've seen each card each week. So if you want to earn Pharthings fast, you do so by practicing other people's cards or making cards that other people will use.
Even when you aren't earning Pharthings, your phoenix will eat the burned remains of a flashcard. The closer you are to correct, the more your phoenix will get out of each card. When your phoenix is an egg or a hatchling, a few right answers is all it will take to bring it out of its shell. After that, your phoenix will need to get enough sustenance to grow, but as long as it gets something it won't starve. If a phoenix goes more than seven days without being fed, though, it will fly away.
But what if the flashcards you want don't exist? Well, in that case, you'll need to make them. It costs 2 Pharthings to create a card, then it will expire in a month. You can renew the course for 2 Pharthings per course per month. You can choose to keep your flashcards private, but if you do that you're going to have to maintain them on your own.

When you create a flashcard, the easiest way is to put the question on one side in one line and the answer on the other side in one line. If there are two equally acceptable answers (for example, in Roman Numerals you can enter IV or IIII for 4) then put them on separate lines in the answer side. If you want the answer chosen from a list, put the list on the question side under the question. If you want a list with multiple answers, then put the list to choose from on the question side and the list of answers to select on the answer side.
There are a few more advanced options, but this is just a quick and easy tutorial to get you started.
To import from a spreadsheet, you need three or four columns. The first column is the name of the lesson. The second column is the question. The third column is the answer. The fourth column (if you have it) is the grade level.
